CrimeoMeter Terms of Service
By using our products and services, you (the "Client") agree to the following Terms of Service.
1. Disclaimer
1.1 Crime Data and 911 calls
Crime data and 911 calls available through CrimeoMeter are aggregated from publicly available sources on the web, including publicly available information from law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement agencies who report crime publicly do so voluntarily, at different time intervals and levels of specificity, and some choose to only provide data on certain crimes. In addition, law enforcement agencies may categorize and report the same crimes differently. Therefore, the crime data displayed by CrimeoMeter may contain information that is incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated, and information available for one area should not be compared to another area or assumed to be complete.
This information is meant to be a starting point for evaluating safety around an area. Conclusions drawn from, or actions undertaken on the basis of, such data and information are the sole responsibility of the user.
1.2 Sex Offenders Data
Registered Sex Offender data is transmitted for informational use only and CrimeoMeter makes no representation, express or implied, that the registered sex offender data is accurate.
Access to Sex Offender data is offered without warranty. Any access to, or use of, this data is the responsibility of the service user, and shall be done only in accordance with all applicable laws and ordinances. Any response to this data, including updates, inaccuracies or ‘tips’ for action should be made directly to the agency with jurisdiction, or to the state’s sex offender management unit.
Accessing any data or content provided by CrimeoMeter indicates understanding and acceptance of these Terms of Service.
2. Data Citation Policy
Whenever you display data sourced from CrimeoMeter, the Client may provide attribution. Attribution to CrimeoMeter is optional unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing.
The preferred format is:
“Source: CrimeoMeter (www.crimeometer.com)”
If included, attribution may appear directly below the data or in a visible "Sources" section or footer on the same page. We also recommend including a link to our disclaimer (www.crimeometer.com/tos), noting that the data may be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated.
Example:
“Crime data provided by CrimeoMeter. Data may be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated and should not be relied upon as the sole source for decision-making. For more information: www.crimeometer.com/tos”
3. Permitted Use of Data
Subject to the Client’s applicable agreement with CrimeoMeter, these Terms of Service, and all applicable laws and regulations, CrimeoMeter does not impose restrictions on how the Client may use, display, incorporate, or present the data provided through CrimeoMeter in connection with the Client’s products or services.
