Crime declining in Boston: What's the latest in the trend? - Jun ’23



The number of crime incidents in Boston saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 5,829 for Jun-2023 down from 6,709 for May-2023 (-13.1% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Burglary/Breaking & Entering and Simple Assault. Burglary/Breaking & Entering fell to 68 incidents last month, from 97 the month before. (-29.9% change). Simple Assault went from 281 to 213 (-24.2% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Shoplifting went from 207 to 251 incidents (+21.3% change). Incidents of Robbery rose from 56 to 67 incidents (+19.6% change). Drug/Narcotic Violations went up from 113 to 117 incidents (+3.5% change).
