Crime declining in Detroit: What's the latest in the trend? - Oct ’23


The number of crime incidents in Detroit, MI saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 6,843 for Oct-2023 down from 6,856 for Sep-2023 (-0.2% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Motor Vehicle Theft and Robbery. Motor Vehicle Theft fell to 688 incidents last month, from 692 the month before. (-0.6% change). Robbery went from 100 to 88 (-12% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property went from 734 to 845 incidents (+15.1% change). Incidents of Burglary/Breaking & Entering rose from 372 to 417 incidents (+12.1% change). Aggravated Assault went up from 601 to 636 incidents (+5.8% change).
