Crime declining in Minneapolis: What's the latest in the trend? - Feb ’24



The number of crime incidents in Minneapolis saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 3,105 for Feb- 2024 down from 3,323 for Jan-2024 (-6.6% change).



The offenses that decreased the most were Motor Vehicle Theft and Aggravated Assault. Motor Vehicle Theft fell to 443 incidents last month, from 574 the month before. (-22.8% change). Aggravated Assault went from 183 to 149 incidents (-18.6% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Robbery went from 125 to 150 incidents (+20% change). Incidents of Theft From Motor Vehicle rose from 222 to 238 incidents (+7.2% change). Drug/Narcotic Violations went up from 73 to 78 incidents (+6.8% change).
