Crime declining in San Francisco: What's the latest in the trend? - Jun '24


The number of crime incidents in San Francisco saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 7,872 for Jun-2024 down from 8,465 for May-2024 (-7% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Drug/Narcotic Violations and Shoplifting. Drug/Narcotic Violations fell to 293 incidents last month, from 399 the month before. (-26.6% change). Shoplifting went from 297 to 232 (-21.9% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Aggravated Assault went from 233 to 253 incidents (+8.6% change). Incidents of Motor Vehicle Theft rose from 564 to 595 incidents (+5.5% change). Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property went up from 555 to 569 incidents (+2.5% change).
