The number of crime incidents in San Francisco saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 6,906 for Sep-2025 down from 7,392 for Aug-2025 (-6.6% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Theft From Motor Vehicle and Shoplifting. Theft From Motor Vehicle fell to 420 incidents last month, from 541 the month before. (-22.4% change). Shoplifting went from 276 to 251 incidents (-9.1% change).
Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Simple Assault went from 367 to 418 incidents (+13.9% change).
