Crime declining in Seattle: What's the latest in the trend? - Aug ’26

The number of crime incidents in Seattle saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 4,455 for Aug-2026 down from 4,792 for Jul-2026 (-7% change).



The offenses that decreased the most were Drug/Narcotic Violations and Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property. Drug/Narcotic Violations fell to 134 incidents last month, from 173 the month before. (-22.5% change). Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property went from 475 to 418 (-12% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Motor Vehicle Theft went from 349 to 396 incidents (+13.5% change). Incidents of Robbery rose from 90 to 99 incidents (+10% change). Theft From Motor Vehicle went up from 725 to 791 incidents (+9.1% change).
