Crime going down in Boston: What's the latest in the trend? - Jul ‘22



The number of crime incidents in Boston, MA saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous increase, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 6,130 for Jun-2022 down from 6,265 for May-2022 (-2.2% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were burglary and shoplifting. Burglary fell to 68 incidents last month, from 78 the month before (-12.8% change). Shoplifting went from 169 to 159 ( -5.9% change). There was also a decrease in aggravated assault, from 155 incidents to 150 (-3.2% change).


Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of vandalism went from 231 to 259 (+12.1% change). Incidents of robbery went from 62 to 64 (+3.2% change) and incidents of simple assault rose from 249 to 252 (+1.2% change).
