Crime going down in New York City: What's the latest in the trend? - Sep '23



The number of crime incidents in New York City saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 36,158 for Sep-2023 down from 39,393 for Aug-2023 (-8.2% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Theft From Motor Vehicle and Burglary. Theft From Motor Vehicle fell to 1,406 incidents last month, from 1,665 the month before. (-15.6% change). Burglary went from 2,399 to 2,135 (-11.0% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Aggravated Assault went from 617 to 631 incidents (+2.3% change).
