The number of crime incidents in Chicago saw an overall increase last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents increased to 21,017 for Jul-2025 up from 20,015 for Jun-2025 (+5% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Drug/Narcotic Violations went from 480 to 601 incidents (+25.2% change). Incidents of Motor Vehicle Theft rose from 1,525 to 1,676 incidents (+9.9% change). Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property went up from 2,468 to 2,575 incidents (+4.3% change).
