The number of crime incidents in New York City saw an overall increase last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents increased to 27,958 for Feb-2025 up from 25,756 for Jan-2025 (+8.5% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Simple Assault rose from 4,339 to 4,917 incidents (+13.3% change). Shoplifting went up from 257 to 289 incidents (+12.5% change).
