Crime going down in Austin: What's the latest in the trend? - Feb ’23



The number of crime incidents in Austin saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 7,046 for Feb-2023 down from 7,408 for Jan-2023 (-4.9% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were Simple Assault and Drug/Narcotic Violations. Simple Assault fell to 390 incidents last month, from 456 the month before. (-14.5% change). Drug/Narcotic Violations went from 216 to 186 (-13.9% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Robbery went from 82 to 114 incidents (+39% change). Incidents of Motor Vehicle Theft rose from 476 to 488 (+2.5% change).
