Crime declining in Austin: What's the latest in the trend? - May ’25

The number of crime incidents in Austin, TX saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 6,492 for May-2025 down from 7,644 for Apr-2025 (-15.1% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Motor Vehicle Theft and Aggravated Assault. Motor Vehicle Theft fell to 311 incidents last month, from 464 the month before. (-33% change). Aggravated Assault went from 477 to 392 (-17.8% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Drug/Narcotic Violations went from 332 to 353 incidents (+6.3% change).
