Crime declining in Houston: What's the latest in the trend? - Aug ‘22



The number of crime incidents in Houston saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous increase, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 13,933 for Jul-2022 down from 20,520 for Jun-2022 (-32.1% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were vandalism and shoplifting. Vandalism fell to 1,328 incidents last month, from 1,909 the month before (-30.4% change). Shoplifting went from 986 to 702 (-28.8% change). There was also a decrease in aggravated assault, from 1,360 incidents to 970 (-28.7% change).


In addition, there was a decrease in motor vehicle theft fell to 1,425 incidents last month, from 1,907 the month before (-25.3% change).
