Crime declining in Nashville: What's the latest in the trend? - Jun ‘22



The number of crime incidents in Nashville, TN saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 9,883 for May-2022 down from 10,025 for Apr-2022 (-1.4%change).


The offenses that decreased the most were shoplifting and theft from motor vehicle. Shoplifting fell to 323 incidents last month, from 373 the month before (-13.4% change). Theft from motor vehicle went from 788 to 722 (-8.4% change). There was also a decrease in burglary, from 350 incidents to 329 (-6.0% change).


Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of robbery went from 179 to 217 (+21.2% change). Incidents of motor vehicle theft went from 320 to 344 (+7.5% change) and incidents of aggravated assault rose from 1,160 to 1,241 (+7.0% change).
