Crime declining in Seattle: What's the latest in the trend? - Dec ‘21



The number of crime incidents in Seattle saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 5,967 for Nov-2021 down from 6,442 for Oct-2021 (-7.4% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were motor vehicle theft and aggravated assault. Aggravated assault fell to 204 incidents last month, from 275 the month before (-25.8% change). Motor vehicle theft went from 584 to 491 (-15.9% change).


There was also a decrease in simple assault, from 388 incidents to 334 (-13.9% change), and in shoplifting, from 362 to 329 incidents (-9.1% change).


Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of burglary went from 831 to 862 (+3.7% change). Incidents of theft from motor vehicle rose from 905 to 914 (+1.0% change.
