Crime decreasing in Indianapolis: What's the latest in the trend? - May ’25

The number of crime incidents in Indianapolis, IN saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 36,728 for May-2025 down from 40,147 for Apr-2025 (-8.5% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property and Motor Vehicle Theft. Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property fell to 1,236 incidents last month, from 1,593 the month before. (-22.4% change). Motor Vehicle Theft went from 547 to 478 (-12.6% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Robbery went from 160 to 177 incidents (+10.6% change). Incidents of Aggravated Assault rose from 343 to 350 incidents (+2% change).
