Crime going down Austin: What's the latest in the trend? - Nov ’23


The number of crime incidents in Austin saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 6,845 for Nov-2023 down from 7,754 for Oct-2023 (-11.7% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were Drug/Narcotic Violations and Theft From Motor Vehicle. Drug/Narcotic Violations fell to 175 incidents last month, from 209 the month before. (-16.3% change). Theft From Motor Vehicle went from 720 to 606 (-15.8% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Motor Vehicle Theft went from 602 to 665 incidents (+10.5% change). Incidents of Robbery rose from 73 to 80 incidents (+9.6% change). Burglary/Breaking & Entering went up from 348 to 358 incidents (+2.9% change).
