The number of crime incidents in Houston saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 7,332 for Apr-2026 down from 7,684 for Mar-2026 (-4.6% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property and Aggravated Assault. Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property fell to 863 incidents last month, from 1,052 the month before. (-18% change). Aggravated Assault went from 647 to 562 (-13.1% change).
Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Shoplifting went from 831 to 878 incidents (+5.7% change). Incidents of Robbery rose from 193 to 202 incidents (+4.7% change). Theft From Motor Vehicle went up from 1,149 to 1,151 incidents (+0.2% change).
