Crime going down in Los Angeles: What's the latest in the trend? - Aug ‘22

The number of crime incidents in Los Angeles saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 16,801 for Jul-2022 down from 18,821 for Jun-2022 (-10.7% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were theft from motor vehicle and vandalism. Theft from motor vehicle fell to 1,503 incidents last month, from 1.854 the month before (-18.9% change). Vandalism went from 1,662 to 1,398 (-15.9% change). There was also a decrease in aggravated assault, from 1,350 incidents to 1,138 (-15.7% change).


Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of robbery went from 828 to 869 (+5.0% change).
