Crime going down in Los Angeles: What's the latest in the trend? - Aug ’24


The number of crime incidents in Los Angeles saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 6,796 for Aug-2024 down from 7,502 for Jul-2024 (-9.4% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Drug/Narcotic Violations and Burglary/Breaking & Entering. Simple Assault fell to 31 incidents last month, from 41 the month before (-24.4% change). Burglary/Breaking & Entering went from 64 to 41 (-35.9% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Aggravated Assault went from 33 to 34 incidents (+3% change).
