Crime going down in Philadelphia: What's the latest in the trend? - Feb ‘22



The number of crime incidents in Philadelphia saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 10,824 for Jan-2022 down from 11,658 for Dec-2021 (-7.2% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were Theft from motor vehicle and Burglary. Theft from motor vehicle fell to 1,104 incidents last month, from 1,301 the month before (-15.1% change). Burglary went from 524 to 441 (-15.8% change).


There was also a decrease in vandalism, from 1,064 incidents to 973 (-8.6% change), and in robbery, from 655 to 567 incidents (-13.4% change).


Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of motor vehicle theft went from 881 to 953 (+8.2% change). Incidents of drug/narcotic violations rose from 185 to 191 (+3.2% change).
