Crime going down in Philadelphia: What's the latest in the trend? - Jun ’23



The number of crime incidents in Philadelphia saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 14,207 for Jun-2023 down from 14,498 for May-2023 (-2% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Drug/Narcotic Violations and Simple Assault. Drug/Narcotic Violations fell to 208 incidents last month, from 260 the month before. (-20% change). Simple Assault went from 2,352 to 2,021 (-14.1% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Burglary/Breaking & Entering went from 436 to 481 incidents (+10.3% change). Incidents of Motor Vehicle Theft rose from 2,000 to 2,191 incidents (+9.6% change). Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property went up from 1,428 to 1,483 incidents (+3.9% change).
