The number of crime incidents in Houston saw an overall increase last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents increased to 9,007 for Aug-2025 up

from 7,045 for Jul-2025 (+27.8% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Aggravated Assault went from 420 to 606 incidents (+44.3% change). Incidents of Simple Assault rose from 993 to 1,383 incidents (+39.3% change). Theft From Motor Vehicle went up from 910 to 1,189 incidents (+30.7% change).
