Crime on the rise in Indianapolis: What's the latest in the trend? - Oct ‘22



The number of crime incidents in Indianapolis saw an overall increase last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents increased to 29,576 for Sep-2022 up from 20,476 for Aug-2022 (+44.4% change).



Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Shoplifting went from 95 to 171 (+80% change). Incidents of Robbery rose from 152 to 225 (+48% change). Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property went up from 671 to 967 incidents (+44.1% change).

The only offense that decreased last month was Motor Vehicle Theft. Motor Vehicle Theft fell to 285 incidents last month, from 288 the month before. (-1% change).
