Philadelphia crime on the rise: What's the latest in the trend? - Jul ‘22



The number of crime incidents in Philadelphia, PA saw an overall increase last month, after a previous increase, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents increased to 13,713 for Jun-2022 up from 13,453 for May-2022 (+1.9% change).


The offenses that increased the most were theft from motor vehicle and robbery. Theft from motor vehicle increased to 1,484 incidents last month, from 1,282 the month before (+15.8% change). Robbery increased to 559 from 521 (+7.3% change).


There was also an increase in aggravated assault, from 846 incidents to 884 (+4.5% change), and in motor vehicle theft, from 856 to 876 incidents (+2.3% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were drug/narcotic violations and simple assault. Drug/narcotic violations fell to 242 incidents last month, from 267 the month before (-9.4% change). Simple assault also decreased from 2,383 incidents to 2,218 (-6.9% change).
